“I didn’t just jump back on the bike and win. There were a lot of ups and downs, good results and bad results, but this time I didn’t let the lows get to me.” – Lance Armstrong

February 1st Report from Dad
I weighed in this morning (February 1st) at 187.6, down 2.4lbs and a body fat of 25.4%, down 1.8%. Not too great for me in terms of weight loss averaging less than a pound a week, but I’m happy because I , at least, reversed the past 7 month trend of steadily gaining weight.
I’ve been focused only on getting back into a routine of exercise. My simple plan is this: Monday – run 1 hour, Tuesday – lift weights and do a couple of abs exercises, Wednesday – bike on my trainer to a video for an hour, Thursday – run one hour (I plan to increase this to 1.5 hours by the end of March), Friday – lift weights again, Saturday – bike on the road for an hour (slowly increasing to two hours). My running is going well but my weight makes me very slow. The weight training and bike have only been about 50% consistent. My goals for February are to get consistent with the weights and bike and keep going on the run (slowly adding speed work on the Monday run).
Regarding nutrition my only progress has been to avoid desserts except for on date night. I’m doing pretty well with that except when Jenny makes chocolate chip cookies!
Congratulations to Corinne and Mike! You are both doing really, really great!

Corinne's Update
So, here’s what I’ve been doing…
Before Christmas I didn’t eat after 7pm for 6 weeks - I didn’t lose any weight, but I was proud of myself and felt like I had a lot more energy. So I started doing that again this month and I’ve been working out consistently about 2 days a week doing circuit training with a workout program on the Wii called EA Sports Active. I started out doing 20 minutes and am now at 40 minutes each time. It uses workout bands for weights and it includes
I then decided to count calories this week – 1500 each day. It’s really hard for me to count calories, but not eating after
Result-- So far I’ve lost 5 pounds and 2% body fat.
I think that the intense workouts and the counting calories finally got me through my 194 lb. plateau that I've been at since last February. Yay!

We will have monthly weigh-ins with the last right before we all meet at the cabin at the end of the year. Each monthly winner will be featured on the blog.
So... to decrease your body fat percentage you can do two different things. You can decrease the amount of fat you have and/or you can increase the amount of muscle you have.
Please send your beginning body fat percentage and entrance fee to Corinne. I will post them all in a chart on the blog each month.
Good Luck!
